A new music video finds “My City” artist Nyzzy Nyce and Lynchpin collaborating again, earning over 100,000 views on Vevo in its premiere late last month and now appearing on MTV2 and MTV Jams.
We set out to make “Live It Up” in the early winter of 2013. Up until then, a lot of Nyzzy’s videos were of a very particular look and feel: polished, shiny, and constantly moving. The marriage between director Miles Meyer‘s style and Nyzzy’s songs proved successful throughout last year and we wanted to take the opportunity to show Nyzzy as he hadn’t been seen: as a normal guy trying to make his way. We found the contrast intriguing: high powered track and lyrics about living the high life, sung by an artist in a hoodie on a desolate looking hill near downtown Fort Wayne.
Together with Miles, we shot over several days in snowy January in 2013, and in earlier this year Miles entered the edit suite to tweak our original timeline, inserting a lot of new, candid footage of Nyzzy as well as some alternate verse takes. Miles also directed the national version of “My City,” a follow up to our local hip hop video of the same name, so it was only fitting we collaborated on this project. The result has now premiered on Vevo and MTV Jams.
